Stopped in Zurich then drove on to Annecy, France. South of Geneva, Switzerland. 1 night.

January 11
Long drive through the Alps south
From Annecy to Nice. 7 hours. 2 nights downtown at the Layfayette Hotel "small and friendly" as advertised. Chagall and Matisse Museums a highspot. "la Mer!!!"

January 13
Arles, France: find wonderful
accommodations at Hotel L'Amphitheatre
We like Arles's size and soul. We stay here 5 nights. Judy much better. We'll be back.

January 18
3 and 1/2 hours in the car to get to Toulouse.
Staying with good friends who live here, Andy Blake, Schmulik Alon and their daughter Ariel.

Leave Toulouse and drive to Collioure, France
(just north of the Spanish border on the Costa Brava) Stopped along the way at a textile factory "Filature HOUARD" at Labastide Rouairoux (1.5 hours east of Toulouse).

January 29
Arrived at Cadaques, Spain along the Costa Brava or "Wild Coast" named so due to its rugged coastline and windy roads. Hotel Blaumar 7 nights!

Leave Grenada. Drive 2.5 hours to Gibralter. Tour of town, the Rock and Apes... Arrive after sunset in Tarifa, Spain's Southernmost city.

February 16
We find our home, a cottage near Tarifa. 8 miles away, Africa in the distance.

Daytrips: Vejer, Bolonia, Seville, Caseres, Andulusian white washed villages, Ronda, Grazelema, Arcos de la Frontera...

Tarifa highlites:
Francisco and family, La Pena neighbors, Virgin de la Luz Sanctuary, A swiss vet, Carnival, Kite surfing, el Gallo, our own jukebox, and Jason's irrepressible energy and spirit.... And much more.

After one months stay in Tarifa, Including a 2 week visit by Jason. We sadly leave our little cottage in the Hills and drive with the wind at our back, northeast to Cordoba.

From Bangkok (10 days) fly to Chaing Mai, Loy Kratong water festival, 2 day excursion to the hill country. return to Bangkok.

Fly back to Istanbul. 2 days. Fly to Cologne, Germany. take a train to Amsterdam. (almost 2 weeks in Amsterdam). Train to Paris. short visit with the Blackmans. back to Amsterdam. Returning to the Northwest Seattle on Nov. 28th.
