We're back from our year-long adventure with a lot more travel savvy and street smarts than when we left for Europe in late 2002. And we're still married, which for couples traveling together in close quarters, takes plenty of give and take. We survived but more important, we've lived to come back and share the tale with you. Taking a year off provided focus on our lives and dreams and helped us see the future a little more clearly.

But wow, she's had so many folks ask for her hand-made caps that she's taking requests via this web site If you'd like a custom-made, one of a kind, knit cap, contact Judy here at "Radical Sabbatical'.

After a lot of thought and planning, Judy and I are leaving Seattle to take a year long sabbatical beginning November 26th. We're feeling excitement and panic looking at the list of things to take care of before leaving as the days tick down to our departure date And while we're looking forward to the adventures of the road, at the same time we'll miss all you good people in the production community, the networks, production companies and all the loyal clients who we've been proud to associate and work with over the years. From the response we've been getting so far, I'm convinced that all of us feel the need to take some time off to recharge and replant ourselves every so often. That's the purpose of this time away from hometo collect and be inspired by new ideas. We fly out of Seattle on December 3rd to Amsterdam. There we will stay with some friends and buy our "Love Van" (a used Volkswagen Westfalia camping van) and after some time in the Kaffee shops and museums, we'll visit an old friend in the Channel Islands, then head south toward Munich to visit our son Jason for Christmas. From there it's up in the air folks. We plan to head eventually to the warmer climes of Greece and Crete for the winter. You all are invited along The purpose of this site is to make it possible for you to check in on our travels from time to time and to see where we are and where we've Been. We'll be updating the site with new photos and journal entries as we go. Armchair travelers welcome! We're hoping you'll Come to http://www.radicalsabbatical.com/ often and leave us lots of messages so we can stay in touch during 2003 and throughout our adventure. Now I'll turn it over to Judy.
Are we running away? Well, [spoken like Jack Benny], yes and no. We're on the warpath against complacency! No more 'regular' routines for now. We're making it up as we go. Life mimics art or is it vicey-versa flowing, dynamic and magical. Then there's the responsible stuff. Getting from here to there has been on the list for at least 4 years
and it's just recently made it to the top. Kevin always said he didn't
want to be a grizzled news cameraman after turning 50. Guess what?
[Yup & both of us 1952 babies.] We told Jason [now
22] our idea for a radical sabbatical when he was first going off to
college. He was none too happy. Whatd'ya mean? you're not going to be
there when I want to come home & what about the puppies? I told him
not to worry it wasn't going to happen for awhile. This year Jason is
finishing school and is living in Munich so we'll be visiting him. Shane
(25) lives in Los Angeles now and he’s in law school and has a lot of fun
and a very nice girlfriend. We're thrilled that Vari [now 31 and
living near a huge troll under a bridge] loves Geology and having the
wonderful Esme dog. Ozzie, the inspiration for my icons, is in the good
hands of Mark Mayo and Fran Kremen and their two dog crazy kids. Who
